March 8th 2012 – Guest Speaker: James "the Doc" Gardner
March see’s James “the Doc” Gardner visiting PAC Region 30/60 to give his excellent and informative slide talk….
James is a prolific catcher of large trout reservoir pike, with fish up to 38lb 8oz. When Weirwood opened for 'any method' pike fishing, James and long time angling companion Andy Lush, pioneered some of the livebait trolling methods that took several local reservoirs apart, including Bough Beech, Ardingly, Darwell and Ardleigh, using the 'bottom bouncing' and 'fledgering' methods.. So if you are thinking of fishing any of the trout reservoirs this season, or just need a few pointers regarding your trolling techniques’, then James is the man to come and talk to.
As well as Pike, James has also targeted several other European predatory species; Along with his fishing pal Andy Lush, they have had considerable success targeting continental Catfish, with multiple catches of ton plus fish using little more than “beefed-up” Pike fishing methods (pre-Halibut pellet days). More recently, the pair has pursued predatory Spanish Barble with the use of lures and flies.
Keeping along the predatory theme, this month, James’s talk will focus around his recent Perch and Zander fishing, with both baits and lures.
